The city of Angers lies in western France, roughly equidistant between Le Mans and Nantes, and benefits from excellent transport links by rail, road and air.Angers is a stop on the main Nantes-Paris and Nantes-Lyon routes. Angers Saint-Laud is the city's main station and lies on the high-speed TGV line to Paris (1hr30ms), Charles de Gaulle airport (2hr30) Lyon (3hr45m), Strasbourg (4hr30m), and Lille (3hr30min), amongst other destinations. There is also a comprehensive regional service to destiations including Cholet, Saumur, Le Mans, Orleans, Nevers and Bourges.
By road, Angers is joined to the French road network by the A11 motorway which links Paris to Nantes, and the A87 motorway which joins Angers with La Roche-sur-Yon. The A85 which is accessed just beyond Angers, take motorists to Tours and Lyon. Clearly, other destinations are also easily accessible with many being linked via one of Frances National roads i.e. so-called "N" roads.
Angers' closest airport is Angers-Loire airport 20km to the north-east of the city. Just off both motorways, there is easy access by car although sadly no direct rail or satisfactory bus services as yet.
