Introduction

Bratislava is split into five distinct administrative divisions, but for the purposes of finding your way around the city, it is worth knowing that locals refer to the city as being split into either seventeen distinct boroughs or twenty cadastral areas.

Geographically, Bratislava lies on the banks of the River Danube close to Austria and Hungary and is less than an hour away from the Czech Republic.
