Introduction
Aiport:Cork has its own Airport. It is located south of the city, in an area known as Ballygarvan. Cork Airport is one of Ireland's main airports as well as the gateway to the country’s south. There are over 50 flights each day with more than ten airlines flying to over 50 different destinations.
Buses:
Buses from Cork city's bus terminal at Parnell Place in the centre provide the shuttle service to and from the airport. They also serve the suburban areas around Cork city, such as Ballincollig, Glanmire and Carrigaline.
Long distance buses also depart from the bus terminal in Parnell Place. There are hourly services to Killarney/Tralee, Waterford and Shannon Airport/Limerick/Galway, six services to Dublin per day and there also is a daily Eurolines service to London Victoria Coach Station via South Wales and Bristol.
Rail:
Kent Station is the primary train station serving the city. From Kent Station there are services connecting Cork with destinations all over Ireland, such as the main line from Cork to Dublin, with hourly departures and a number of connecting services. From Cork to Kerry, InterCity services are available as well as direct services to Killarney and Tralee.
The Station is also served by Cork’s Suburban Rail system. There are services to most areas of Metropolitan Cork as well as to the north and east of the city including Little Island, Mallow, Fota and Cobh. From Kent station you can also get a train to Fota Island Wildlife Park, Arboretum, and Cobh Heritage Centre.
Ferry:
From Rushbrooke to Passage West there is the the Cross River Ferry, a service that can be quite useful when trying to avoid traffic congestion in Jack Lynch tunnel and Dunkettle area. Cork Ferry departs from Ringaskiddy. Brittany Ferries provide a direct sea link is available to Roscoff (France). There are bus services that connect the ferry port with the city centre.
