At the last count the population of Latour de Carol numbered less than 500, and this village at the foot of the Pyrenees is best known for the railway station, where connecting trains run between Barcelona and Toulouse. If you have time between trains it’s worth a stroll for its pretty quaint stone houses and greenery, plus there’s a restaurant and a couple of hostels should you get stranded.
