Introduction
The Neubrandenburg Train Station lies just north of the Friedrich Engels Ring, the ringroad which circles the original medieval centre of Neubrandenburg. The underpass leading directly from the station into this centre makes is very convenient for sightseers arriving by train to view the historic and some of the most beautiful parts of the town.There are direct train services (approx 1hour 15minutes) to the medieval, hanseatic town of Stralsund on Germany's north-eastern coast which itself is known as 'The Gate to Ruegen Island'. The island of Ruegen is home to the beautiful Jasmund National Park, sandy white beaches and wonderful mature woodlands; a perfect day or two-day trip from Neubrandenburg!
