It may be humble in size, but the town of Niebüll is filled with delights for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing break. The Bauernhof Barfussgarten, translated as the “farmyard barefoot garden” is a park and petting zoo with farm animals as well as more exotic species, but most excitingly visitors are encouraged to walk around barefoot. The park owners suggest this has health benefits including strengthening joints and leg muscles, aside from being able to feel grass and soil on your feet. Niebüll is close to the sea (it’s near the Danish border and the North Sea is to the west) so there are opportunities for canoeing, fishing, kayaking and swimming.
