These high-speed Alfa Pendular trains operate in Portugal to connect Lisbon with the other major Portugese cities of Braga, Faro and Porto. Using the tilting technology which has become popular across much of the european high-speed network, there are currently 10 Alfa Pendular trains in service which have increased the top speeds on their routes from 160km/h to 220km/h. Recently there have been new services linking Porto and the Algarve so providing welcome additional transport facilities for the country's vital tourist industry.

These trains offer the greater levels of comfort now expected of modern rolling stock including audio and video entertainment, a buffet car, sockets for laptop computers and meeting facilities.
