The Altaria service in Spain provides excellent connections between the country's capital, Madrid, and several major Spannish cities including Barcelona, Pamplona, Cadiz, Algecircas and Alecante. The 10 trains operating across these lines are locomotive-powered trains, but can travel on both normal and high-speed gauges enabling them to achieve the top speeds of 200km/h.

As with most of the other newer high-speed trains, the Altaria trains have excellent onboard facilities including music channels, videos, a cafe, baby-changing facilities and telephones.
