Edinburgh International Film Festival
The Edinburgh Film Festival has been running for over 65 years
The Edinburgh Film Festival has been running for over 65 years, and as garnered itself an excellent reputation thanks to a roster of world cinema, independent movies, art house and documentaries. The festival prides itself particularly on giving a platform to films that may not have a chance to be distributed otherwise, therefore this is a must for film buffs. Films are screened at various cinemas around the city, and if the weather holds up there are even outdoor screenings at St. Andrew Square, though these tend to be of classic movies. Thankfully organisers have now moved it from August to June, so that it no longer clashes with the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Screenings are ticketed so it’s advisable to book in advance.
