The Exit Festival is huge – there are multiple stages of indie, hip hop and electronic catering to a 20,000 strong crowd.

The eclectic bill has big names but perhaps the reason why so many punters flock here from around Europe is its unique location within a 17th century fortress, surrounded by a moat. The weather is usually hot around the time of the festival, giving visitors the chance to cool off in the River Danube when things get too hot and sweaty in the dance tents or by the stages. There is camping onsite, an internet café, phone charging point and food stalls. And if you fancy a spot of recreation away from the music you can have a go in one of the bumper cars.
