Fischmarkt
The world's only fish market which doubles as a tourist attraction!
Open since 1703, the Fischmarkt (fish market) in Hamburg has become an unlikely Mecca for party-goers and early risers alike! From 05.00 - 09.30 (07.00 - 09.30 in winter) on Sundays, the area comes alive with music, market stalls, fast-food stalls and banter. As well as the market criers (Marktschreier) trying their best to sell their wares to passers by, particularly fish, fruit & veg, plants, sweets and basic clothing, there is plenty more going on in the Fischauktionshalle (fish auction hall) to keep the revellers entertained. The party atmosphere from the night before often continues here with more dancing and drinking to cheesy and old german pop music. For those who can stomach it after the night before, brunch is also served in the Fischauktionshalle. This is a definite must-experience attraction for all locals and visitors to Hamburg!
