Austria’s biggest dance festival takes place every summer and encompasses modern dance performances as well as workshops for adults and children. Not being a country that’s renowned for contemporary dance, some were sceptical over the success of an event of this kind, however the festival has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1995. Some of the world’s most famous dance companies have participated, and renowned musicals such as STOMP have featured in previous years. Over 30,000 visitors attend the festival each year, most of whom live in the surrounding areas, proving just how popular Innsbruck Summer Dance has become among Austrians. Ticket prices vary, and the shows take place at Dogana, the city’s Congress Centre.
