An impressive shopping centre in the main station building
The Hauptbahnhof (or main station) in Leipzig houses an impressive and modern shopping arcade with 140 shops, restaurants, boutiques and service centres. These are spread over three floors and attract up to 150,000 people daily. Unusually for Germany the arcade is open from 06.00 - 22.00 every day (opening hours are normally very restricted, particularly on Sundays) so even late at night you can make the most of this facility.The station as a whole is one of the largest and prettiest around and with 26 platforms, certainly one of the busiest hub stations in Europe connecting east and west.
