Europe's biggest music festival in the heart of Budapest
Sziget Festival
The Sziget (or 'island') festival in Budapest is one of the biggest music festivals in Europe, and began back in 1993 as a response to the ending of the festival scene as it was under the Communist era. Every year more than 1000 performers take to the stage with over 500,000 people in attendance on the huge island site! The event attracts big-name artists each year with Muse, Rihanna and David Guetta all amongst them.
The island is only about 4km away from the Budapest train station and there are multiple ways to get there. The festival website is a great source of information for all options, but the most exciting could be the Sziget Express whereby you can start the party early by going direct from the Netherlands to the heart of Budapest on the overnight party train!
